Cadillac has done a decent job convincing driving enthusiasts that the brand can build good sport sedans. One of its latest attempts to convert doubters is the CT5, a compact that is the larger of two four-doors in its lineup today, the other being the subcompact CT4. Cadillac introduced the CT5 for the 2020 model year.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the CT5 adds two optional semi-autonomous driving packages built around GM’s Super Cruise technology.
Available Trims
The Cadillac CT5 lineup starts with Luxury trim. From there, you can move to Premium Luxury or Sport trims, which are priced the same but equipped to appeal to different types of buyers. All trims come standard with a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, a 10-speed transmission, and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an option across the board, and Premium Luxury can be had with a 3.0L turbo V6 for a significant performance boost.

Standard Features
Luxury trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, LED taillights, heated side mirrors, and passive keyless entry. Inside, you’ll get heated front seats and steering wheel, power front seats with lumbar, a 10.0-inch infotainment display, dual-zone A/C, nine-speaker audio, and wireless phone charging.
The CT5’s basic safety suite comprises forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane change alert, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, following distance indicator, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams.
Premium Luxury and Sport trims add an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic braking, lighted door handles, a power front passenger seat, ambient cabin lighting, front and rear park assist, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and power steering column adjustments.
Sport gets 19-inch wheels, and adjustable-length front seat cushions; Premium Luxury gets massaging front seats with ventilation.
Key Options
A climate package for Sport models brings ventilated front seats. All three trims can add a navigation package that also includes a 15-speaker stereo.
Sport and Premium Luxury offer a parking package of surround-view cameras, digital rearview mirror, rear pedestrian alert, automatic parking assist, hands-free trunk, air ionizer, and power-folding side mirrors. These two trims can also be optioned with a platinum package comprising navigation, 15-speaker audio, digital gauges, head-up display, all the features from the parking package, semi-aniline leather, front-seat massage and adjustable bolsters, and a dual-pane sunroof.
A Luxury trim sun and sound pack brings a sunroof, navigation, and 15-speaker audio. Sport and Premium Luxury offer a tech package with digital gauges and a head-up display.
The two new-for-2022 Super Cruise packages bundle the semi-autonomous driving system with various tech and luxury items.
Fuel Economy
Cadillac’s fuel consumption estimates are 10.3/7.1 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 2.0L engine and RWD, and 10.9/7.8 L/100 km with AWD. For 3.0L cars, ratings are 12.4/8.7 L/100 km with RWD and 12.8/9.1 L/100 km in AWD models.
Competition
The Cadillac CT5 competes for sport sedan buyers’ attention with the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series, Audi A4/S4 and A5/S5 Sportback, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Genesis G70, Infiniti Q50, Volvo S60, Lexus IS, and Acura TLX.
