Overview
The XT5 is Cadillac's midsize crossover, selling in one of the hottest luxury segments around. The XT5 is the brand's best-seller, arriving in 2016 to replace the SRX, which was Cadillac's top seller when it was on the market as well.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
After an extensive refresh inside and out for 2020, changes to the XT5 are quite limited this year. The only notable difference is the addition of wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone connections.
Available Trims
Cadillac offers the XT5 for 2021 in three main trims. Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. The first comes with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, with the choice of either front or all-wheel drive. Premium Luxury has the 2.0L four or a 3.6L V6, both with AWD and a nine-speed auto, and Sport is offered exclusively with the 3.6L V6, AWD, and a nine-speed auto.
Standard Features
Luxury trim includes Cadillac's CUE infotainment system with Bose audio on an 8.0-inch screen as well as a 4G LTE hotspot. Eight-way driver and six-way adjustable passenger front seats are included, both are heated (as is the steering wheel) and will turn on automatically at startup. The interior is leatherette with a leather-wrapped wheel. 18-inch alloys, bright roof rails, and automatic LED headlights are included, as is a power liftgate. Active safety features include forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, lane keep assist, front and rear park assist, and a rear seat occupant reminder.
Premium Luxury adds lumbar control to the front seats as well as an auto-dimming inside mirror, power tilt and telescope wheel, and seat memory. The seats are leather with perforated inserts, and wireless phone charging is added. Driver assistance features include lane change alert with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
Sport adds mesh grille and black exterior accents along with 20-inch wheels, and also comes with a Sport Control AWD system, chassis damping control and performance suspension with driver select modes.
Key Options
Option packs include various cargo and interior protection packs, as well as a rear seat entertainment system with multiple screens. A Platinum pack on Premium Luxury adds Semi-Aniline leather seating s well as leather-wrapped interior and microfibre headrest. It also adds chassis damping control electronic suspension. The Enhanced Visibility pack includes an 8.0-inch dash display, head-up display, and rear camera mirror display as well as automatic parking assist and rear pedestrian alert. The Driver Assist pack adds adaptive cruise control, enhanced emergency braking, and automatic seat belt tightening. Navigation and a 14-speaker Bose audio system are also available as are heated rear seats. Sport offers the same options as Premium Luxury.
Fuel Economy
Front-drive Cadillac XT5 models are estimated to return 10.7 L/100 km city, 8.0 highway. AWD models with the 2.0L four are rated for 11.2/8.7, while V6 models should achieve 12.9/9.2 city/highway.
Competition
Cadillac's XT5 competes with Acura's MDX, the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Lexus RX 350, Volvo XC60, and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
