NEW FOR 2012: For 2012, the Chevrolet Sonic is an all-new model. It replaces the discontinued Aveo in the Chevrolet lineup. The Sonic is available as a four-door sedan or four-door hatchback. Both models come with a choice of two engines: a 1.8-litre four-cylinder in the LS and LT trim lines, or a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder in the LTZ. The 1.8-litre comes with a five-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic, while the 1.4-litre uses a six-speed manual transmission. The six-speed automatic will be available on that engine later in the model year. Features on the LS models include 15-inch steel wheels, OnStar, hill hold assist, body-colour door handles, automatic headlamps, manual remote mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, front centre console, keyless entry, front floor mats, driver information centre, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, cloth bucket seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, AM/FM stereo with auxiliary input, and Bluetooth connectivity. The hatchback includes a rear spoiler, cargo cover and rear washer/wiper. Air conditioning can be added to both as an option. The LT adds air conditioning, alarm system, body-colour door handles with chrome strip, heated power mirrors, cruise control, rear floor mats, power windows with driver auto up/down, premium cloth seats, and CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input. The hatchback also adds two-tier rear cargo storage. The LTZ adds 17-inch alloy wheels, driver and front passenger knee airbags, rear seat side airbags, tire pressure monitoring system, fog lights, three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, XM satellite radio, and Bluetooth audio connectivity. The hatchback also adds front bucket seats with perforated leather seating surfaces and folding driver’s armrest.
