Having been completely redesigned for 2009, the Dodge Ram 1500 models receive only trim changes for 2010. All receive a 700-amp battery, while changes to the various trims include a tire pressure monitoring system on the SLT and Laramie, an on-demand 4x4 system on the Sport, and iPod connectivity and auto-dimming driver's mirror on the Laramie. The SXT trim line also returns, a step up from the base ST.
Carried over when the new 1500 was introduced, the Ram 2500 and 3500 models are now also all-new, with "big rig" styling differentiating them from the 1500, and with new hood, bumpers, roof and fenders, new interior, and new features, as well as increased towing and payload capacity. The previous Quad Cab configuration is replaced with the new Crew Cab.
The 1500 comes as a Regular Cab, Quad Cab or Crew Cab. The Regular and Quad come are available with a 3.7-litre V6 with four-speed automatic, 4.7-litre flexible-fuel V8 with five-speed automatic, and 5.7-litre Hemi V8 with five-speed automatic. The Crew Cab comes with the choice of either V8 engine. All cab models are available in rear- or four-wheel drive. Trim choices are the ST, SXT, SLT, Sport and Laramie, and with available TRX Off-Road and R/T packages.
The 2500 and 3500 come in Regular Cab, Crew Cab and Mega Cab, in single or dual-wheel configuration. The 2500 is available with a choice of 5.7-litre Hemi V8 with five-speed automatic, or 6.7-litre Cummins turbodiesel inline six-cylinder with six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission; the 3500 uses the diesel exclusively. Trim levels are the ST, SXT, SLT and Laramie, and with TRX Off-Road and Power Wagon packages.
Features on the ST include 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, grey bumpers and upper fascia, bright grille, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability program, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, 40/20/40 heavy-duty vinyl bench seat, folding rear seat, black door handles, tilt steering wheel, automatic headlamps, CD/MP3 stereo, black vinyl floor covering, and trailer tow with four-pin wiring harness. The Quad Cab version includes rear under-seat storage, and power windows, locks and mirrors.
The SXT adds 17-inch chrome-clad steel wheels, bright front and rear bumpers, cloth 40/20/40 bench seat, carpet floor covering, floor mats, cruise control and Sirius satellite radio.
The SLT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille, body-colour upper fascia, overhead console with trip computer, vehicle information centre with exterior temperature gauge and compass, keyless entry, colour-keyed instrument panel bezel, premium door trim with map pocket, and cloth and Stain Repel seat fabric. The Quad and Crew Cab models include B-pillar blackout tape and rear power sliding window.
The Sport uses the 5.7-litre and adds 20-inch chrome-clad wheels with locking nuts, body-colour front fascia, rear bumper and grille, dual exhaust, fog lamps, power mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, ten-way power cloth bucket seats, halogen quad headlamps, body-colour door handles, 115-volt outlet, and light group package. The Quad Cab adds a split rear fold-flat steel floor.
The Laramie adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated leather seats with memory, bright grille, lower two-tone paint, fog lamps, interior woodgrain and bright accents, power-adjustable pedals, chrome mirrors, remote starter, MyGIG entertainment system, UConnect hands-free, surround sound with subwoofer, security alarm, and rear park assist.
The available TRX Off-Road package includes 17-inch aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires, anti-spin differential, tow hooks, lower two-tone and painted bumpers in Mineral Grey Metallic, body-colour grille, fog lamps, TRX fender flares, and halogen quad headlamps; the TRX4 also includes extra-heavy-duty front and rear shock absorbers, 3.92 axle ratio, and front suspension and transfer case skid plate shields.
The R/T Package includes a unique torque converter and 4.10 axle, sport performance hood, and R/T badge, and with available 22-inch forged and polished aluminum wheels with performance tires.
The Power Wagon is a 4x4 only, uses the 5.7-litre, and includes 17-inch aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires, black wheel flares, door handles and headlamp filler panel, quad headlamps, fog lamps, transfer case and fuel tank skid plates, 4.56 rear axle, tow hooks, trailer tow group, Tru-Lok front and rear axles, clearance lamps, front electric winch, front disconnecting stabilizer bar, manual shift-on-the-fly transfer case, and UConnect hands-free communication.
