Helen Noble I LOVE my Tiburon December 18, 2020 GS with Sport package
Overall Score
I bought this car brand new from the dealer. I had always been attracted to the Tiburon because of its body style. It's low and sleek; it could easily be mistaken for something a lot more exotic on a quick glance! My Tiburon has been a very reliable vehicle. Since I bought it the only major thing that I've replaced are the struts. Other than the usual wear and tear parts, such as brakes, this car has been very good to me. The Tiburon is peppy and handles quite well. I've driven it through the mountains a couple of times and I've enjoyed every minute of it! I found the sound system that came with the car to be very good with lots of power. The Tiburon gets great gas mileage too. If they were still being made today I would seriously consider buying another one :-)

On certain vehicles operated in areas of heavy road salt usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador), road salt can collect in the outboard portion of the front lower control arm and may result in internal corrosion leading to thinning of the steel in the lower control arms. In severe cases, the corrosion may progress to the point where the lower control arm's upper and lower panels become perforated. A perforated front lower control arm may fracture between its ball joint attachment and the forward and rearward pivot attachments to the chassis. This could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front lower control arms. Should the control arms not require replacement, drainage holes will be added, as well as treatment with rust-proofing material to arrest the corrosion process.

On certain vehicles, the inner tie rod assemblies may crack and eventually break. Such a failure would result in separation of a tie rod from the steering rack, causing a loss of steering control which could result in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the steering rack assembly.

On certain vehicles, the fuel tank assembly valve may not close properly. If a vehicle with a fuel tank assembly valve that is not properly closed were to roll over, fuel spillage could occur. Fuel spillage in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Correction: Dealer will install an additional fuel tank assembly valve.

On certain vehicles, the thickness of the instrument panel pad at the tear lines is 0.74mm, which is thicker than the specified 0.4 =/- 0.05mm. The thicker material at the tear line inhibits the ability of the instrument panel surface to fold upward if the passenger airbag deploys. This may adversely affect the deployment of the passenger airbag. Correction: Dealer will replace the instrument panel.

On certain vehicles, the rear brake tubes may contact the steering gear box mounting brackets resulting in rear brake tube wear and corrosion. Severe rear brake tube wear and corrosion may result in brake fluid leakage reducing braking capability. Correction: Dealer will reposition the rear brake tubes, install clips to control the position of the tubes and apply anti-corrosion material where contact with the steering gear box mounting brackets may have occurred.

On certain vehicles, the driver seat belt buckle wiring may be damaged by interference with the driver seat cushion height adjuster mechanism. Damaged driver seat belt buckle wiring may cause the seat belt warning lamp and the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbag warning lamp to illuminate. It could also cause the airbag fuse to open, preventing airbag deployment and increasing the risk of injury during a collision where deployment is intended. Correction: Dealers will protect the wiring, and if necessary, replace the driver seat belt buckle.

Certain vehicles are equipped with driver and front passenger seat belts that may not extend and retract smoothly through the D-ring guides mounted on the body pillars aft of the doors. If the seat belts do not extend and retract smoothly, they may twist in the D-ring guides and make it inconvenient to extend and retract the seat belts. Correction: Dealers will install D-ring guide stoppers.
