Kia makes new headway into the battery-electric vehicle marketplace this year with the EV6, an all-electric sport wagon that is mechanically related to – but could hardly look more different from – the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Available Trims
Kia offers the EV6 in Standard Range and Long Range trims. Both start with rear-wheel drive, with Long Range models offering an optional dual-motor AWD powertrain.
Standard Features
Outside, standard Range RWD trim comes with 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, heated side mirrors, passive keyless entry, and a rear spoiler. Inside, there’s dual-zone automatic A/C, cloth/leatherette upholstery, power driver lumbar, and heated front seats. High tech features include 12.3-inch driver and infotainment displays, a six-speaker stereo, navigation, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
The EV6’s standard suite of safety assists comprises forward collision mitigation, lane keeping/following assist, driver attention warning, a rear occupant alert, and adaptive cruise control.
Long Range RWD models add trailer wiring, safe exit assist, a heat pump, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power driver’s seat with memory, and a heated steering wheel. Long Range AWD is similarly equipped.
Key Options
To Long Range AWD models, you can add a GT-Line 1 package of advanced forward collision mitigation, blind spot collision avoidance, highway driving assist, a hands-free tailgate, surround-view and blind spot cameras, ambient lighting, remote parking assist, leatherette upholstery, and a power front passenger seat.
A GT-Line 2 bundle brings 20-inch wheels, sunroof, automatic exterior door handles, an upgraded stereo, a driver head-up display, suede seat inserts, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a cargo cover, and vehicle-to-load capability.
Fuel Economy
Kia’s energy consumption estimates are 1.7/2.4 Le/100 km (city/highway) for Standard Range RWD models; 1.8/2.3 Le/100 km for the Long Range RWD configuration; and 2.0/2.5 Le/100 km for Long Range AWD models.
Competition
The Kia EV6’s competitors include the mechanically similar Hyundai Ioniq 5, as well as the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Tesla Model 3.
