NEW FOR 2009:
- Standard AdvanceTrac electronic stability control
- New "Midnight Black" special edition package
For 2009, the Lincoln MKZ is unchanged, save for the addition of standard AdvanceTrac electronic stability control. A new available Midnight Black package adds light-coloured maple wood interior inserts, and black perforated premium leather seating surfaces with contrasting piping and the Lincoln star stitched into the head restraint.
Available in a single trim line, the Lincoln MKZ uses a 3.5-litre V6 engine with six-speed automatic transmission. It can be optioned with an all-wheel drive system that delivers torque to all four wheels through an active on-demand coupler, and can transfer power front-to-rear and side-to-side.
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, ten-way power heated and cooled seats with power lumbar and perforated leather seating surfaces, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, six-CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and Sirius satellite radio, Sync, genuine wood accents, garage door opener, tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped and wood steering wheel, overhead console with sunglasses holder, keyless entry fob and entry keypad, fog lamps, LED taillamps, heated mirrors with auto-dimming driver's side, reverse sensing system, speed-sensitive wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, one-touch up/down front windows, cruise control, automatic headlamps, and tire pressure monitoring system. All-wheel drive models include standard Xenon headlamps that are optional on the front-wheel drive model.
Available options include chromed wheels, voice-activated DVD-based navigation system, power sunroof, remote starter, THX II Certified Audio System, and block heater.
While it was originally a heavily-optioned Fusion, sold under the name Zephyr, the MKZ has emerged with its own engine and unique styling cues that sets it apart. Joined by the all-new MKS, it is now the brand's entry-level sedan, instead of its only one. The addition of standard electronic stability control is an important safety feature that was curiously missing for 2008.
