The Lincoln MKZ moves into 2016 largely unchanged as the brand readies a redesigned 2017 model due to go on sale later in the 2016 calendar year.
That means this mid-size luxury sedan is once again offered with gasoline and hybrid powertrains, with both models carrying the same starting price of $37,260, making the MKZ the only vehicle that doesn't charge a premium for a hybrid variant.
Gasoline powered models come with a choice of a standard 2.0L "EcoBoost" turbocharged four-cylinder engine (240 hp/270 lb-ft of torque) or an optional 3.7L V6 that makes 300 hp and 277 lb-ft. Four-cylinder models can be had with front- or all-wheel drive, while V6 variants are AWD only. Both share a six-speed automatic transmission.
The MKZ Hybrid pairs a 2.0L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a combined 188 hp; the company doesn't quote an overall torque figure. Hybrid models are FWD-only, and use a continuously variable transmission.
Naturally, the Hybrid model boasts the best fuel economy, with Natural Resources Canada ratings of 5.7/6.0 L/100 km (city/highway). Estimates are 10.5/7.0 for 2.0L FWD versions, and 10.8/7.5 for 2.0L AWD models. The 3.7L AWD MKZ's figures are 13.8/9.7.
2.0L models are offered in Premiere, Select and Reserve trim levels, and V6 cars are available in Select and Reserve trim.
Standard features in 2.0L FWD and AWD models the base Premiere trim include 10-way heated power-adjustable front seats with lumbar, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch, backup parking sensors, backup camera, real wood interior trim, auto-dimming rearview mirror, capless fuel filling, dual-zone automatic climate control, steerable LED headlights, LED taillights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, electric parking brake, and tire pressure monitoring.
Mid-range Select trim adds a wood-trimmed steering wheel, ambient lighting, auto-dimming driver's side mirror, power-folding side mirrors, and a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescopic steering column.
Top-end Reserve trim gets navigation, blind spot monitoring, power closing trunk, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, embedded modem, and a 110-volt power outlet.
From that $37,260 starting tag, prices rise to $39,460 for a 2.0L AWD model, and $41,750 for one with the 3.7L motor and AWD.
