Probably, a new Cadillac Escalade is being finalized as I write this. I’d wager a princely sum that near to that process, deep within Cadillac’s headquarters, a designer and engineer are poking and prodding a copy of the latest, just-launched 2018 Lincoln Navigator. I’d bet they’re sweating, just a little. The new Lincoln Navigator is excellent. It looks like a $100,000 vehicle. It’s equipped like a $100,000 vehicle. The feel dialled-in throughout is fully in stride with its price tag. It has a cabin like nothing else on the road, brimming with the latest in tech and connectivity. The latest in engineering and EcoBoost technology is on board, too. Plus, this considerable cruiser winds up easily in top-three territory amongst the most comfortable vehicles I’ve ever driven, not to mention one of the largest I’ve ever been in without having to buy a ticket first.

Issue: On certain vehicles, there could be a problem with the driver and/or front passenger seatbelt pretensioner(s). As a result, the airbag warning light could turn on, and the seatbelt pretensioners could deploy without a crash. Safety Risk: Seat belt pretensioners that do not work properly could create an increased risk of injury. Additionally, seat belt pretensioners that deploy without a crash could startle the driver and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver and/or front passenger seatbelt retractor(s). Additionally, the dealer will install a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) drain tube if necessary.

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the SYNC display screen. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the rearview camera, and modify the camera wire retention as necessary. Some Transit models will also require a software update.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the owner's manual doesn't include instructions for how to remove or adjust the head restraint for the centre seating positions. Canadian regulations require this information be included in the owner's manual. Safety Risk: Missing instructions for how to remove or adjust head restraints could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and provide you with an owner's manual insert with instructions for how to remove and adjust the centre seat head restraints.

On certain vehicles, the seat track for the second row centre seat may be missing one or both reinforcement brackets. In the event of a crash, an occupant in that seat may not be properly restrained, which could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the second row centre seat to determine if both reinforcement brackets are installed. If one or both brackets are missing, dealers will replace the centre seat frame assembly. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to adjust the second row centre seat to its full rearward position until the recall inspection or repairs are completed.

On certain vehicles, the high-pressure fuel pump may have been improperly manufactured and could fracture at its mounting flange. This could cause an oil or fuel leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of fire, causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the high-pressure fuel pump, high-pressure discharge tube and mounting bolts.
