Today, the Pathfinder is Nissan’s largest crossover model, but it has its roots in a mid-1980s compact SUV that shared its underpinnings with the brand’s pickup truck of the day. Now, the mid-size, three-row Pathfinder competes in the heart of the mainstream utility vehicle segment.

For 2022, the Nissan Pathfinder is all new and enters its fifth generation.
Available Trims
Nissan offers the Pathfinder in S, SV, SL, SL Premium, and Platinum trim levels. In all five, power is from a 3.5L V6 engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
Outside, Pathfinder S wears 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated side mirrors, passive keyless entry, and heated washer nozzles. Inside, there’s a 7.0-inch drive assist display, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, three-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, six-speaker audio, and Apple Carplay/Android Auto.
Standard safety items include rear parking sensors, ProPilot assist, intelligent driver awareness, rear door alert, radar cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian/cyclist detection, rear automatic braking, blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and lane departure warning/lane intervention.
SV gains LED fog lights, a tow hitch, hands-free tailgate, panoramic sunroof, surround-view cameras, front parking sensors, remote engine start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and four-way driver lumbar.
SL adds a 9.0-inch touchscreen, navigation, a garage door remote, a 120-volt power outlet, leather seating, heated rear seats, wireless Apple CarPlay, and traffic sign recognition.
SL Premium brings 20-inch wheels, head-up display, 12-speaker audio, and wireless charging.
Finally, Platinum gains power-folding side mirrors, a digital gauge cluster, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, power-adjustable steering wheel, quilted leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a front central air bag.

Nissan’s fuel consumption estimates for the Pathfinder are 11.6/9.2 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Nissan’s updated Pathfinder presents a new face to competitors like the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, Ford Explorer, Volkswagen Atlas, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Subaru Ascent.
