2015 BMW X3

Trim: 2.8i Xdrive
by Carlover9202 on 10-17-2016
Not all its hyped to be
Owned this car for a year now, quite disappointed in the cheap plastics, creaks, rattles, poor city fuel economy as well as the lack of advanced safety features at this price.
Lots of cheap crackling sounding plastic by the radio, the doors and the sunroof constantly rattles as soon as it hits 4degrees - quite frustrating.
Blind Sport monitor, rear traffic alert, pre collision braking are only available as a package on the most expensive trim.
For a 4cy SUV, you're better off with a CRV and pocket $25K

2015 BMW X3

Trim: 28d

Diesel: fuel economy vs. performance
I really wanted to get into a diesel because of the fuel economy so I went with the 28d. And in that regard, it does not disappoint averaging around 7.6l/100km so far. Reviews of this engine say it sounds like a tractor, which I think is a bit harsh. It does make more noise that its petro counterpart, but inside, you are well insulated from the clatter. Performance does suffer though, and the power distribution is unique. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised, other times, I want more. But... the ride and handling are superb and I love driving it.
I'm glad I went with the 2015 and upgraded leather as the cabin feels very nice and the 40/20/40 seats makes it more utilitarian.
No reliability issues yet, but still a young car. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would advise you keep this on your short list if looking for this type of vehicle. The fuel savings will only off-set the extra cost if you plan to keep this car for a while, so drive the 28i and 28d back-to-back to decide for yourself.
