2016 BMW X3

Great ride, good on gas, a little dated technology
Drives like the Ultimate Driving Machine, but wish it had remote features like in the US. Android Auto would also be a nice addition. Otherwise, no real complains. Good on gas as well, and performance is fantastic.

Responsive to drive
Vehicle is the right size and very fun to drive. It feels "connected" to the road which makes it enjoyable to drive. The X3 is easy to park and gets decent gas mileage (depending on how aggressively you drive).

Heated seats and steering wheel were appreciated on those cold, winter mornings.

Terrific Ride and Performance
Now that it is winter, I really appreciate the heated steering wheel. In addition, the drive is extremely strong, and the eco option really helps with fuel efficiency. It also has the best voice activated system for phone calls. Making calls is extremely effective and the reception is perfect. I have lower back problems and the lumbar system really makes my drive go much better. Long drives are no longer an issue. I will always by BMW's. Never disappointed. Let's bring back some more manual transmissions though!

Great SUV!
I love this SUV, it's Powerful, comfortable to drive, offers great handling and acceleration, excellent for snow conditions and good for gas. I preferred xDrive 35i which comes with same engine as X5, Power of xDrive 28i was not that great during test drive.

Not all its hyped to be
Owned this car for a year now, quite disappointed in the cheap plastics, creaks, rattles, poor city fuel economy as well as the lack of advanced safety features at this price.
Lots of cheap crackling sounding plastic by the radio, the doors and the sunroof constantly rattles as soon as it hits 4degrees - quite frustrating.
Blind Sport monitor, rear traffic alert, pre collision braking are only available as a package on the most expensive trim.
For a 4cy SUV, you're better off with a CRV and pocket $25K
My first and last BMW

A true drivers cars
my 2007 BMW x3 is great. with a 3.0 liter inline 6 engine there is lots of power and acceleration. the on road performance is amazing it hugs the road and has great handling. it comes with 4WD so it is great in the snow and any weather conditions. The interior is very luxurious with most of the cabin wrapped in leather a big panoramic sunroof and beautiful wood trim giving off a very classy look. The ride is a bit firm but livable. My x3 has had no major problems just the usually maintenance even though the maintenance can get pricey, make sure when buying your used x3 that it is in good condition or else you will be in a pretty pricey situation with repairs. other than that i love my x3 and it is an amazing car.

2012 BMW X3

Excellent luxury SUV
Bought my X3 brand new. The 3.0L turbo engine is vanilla-smooth with ample power, rated at 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph is rated at 5.4 seconds, which is blazing fast for an SUV (or a sedan, for that matter). Ride quality is firm but pleasant. Handling is surprisingly flat for an SUV, which is somewhat expected from BMW. Panoramic moonroof is great for passengers. Heated steering wheel is a must for cold weather driving. Rear camera with top view is the best thing to happen for parking; all cars should have this feature. Even though the design is a few years old, it still looks sharp, especially the front and back. Cargo space is the best in its class in 2012 (luxury small SUVs). Rear seat room is surprisingly abundant and is plenty for rear-facing child seats. Overall a fantastic vehicle and the most fun you'll get in a luxury SUV (except a Porsche Macan, which is significantly more expensive and has much less cargo and rear seat room).

2015 BMW X3

Trim: 28d

Diesel: fuel economy vs. performance
I really wanted to get into a diesel because of the fuel economy so I went with the 28d. And in that regard, it does not disappoint averaging around 7.6l/100km so far. Reviews of this engine say it sounds like a tractor, which I think is a bit harsh. It does make more noise that its petro counterpart, but inside, you are well insulated from the clatter. Performance does suffer though, and the power distribution is unique. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised, other times, I want more. But... the ride and handling are superb and I love driving it.
I'm glad I went with the 2015 and upgraded leather as the cabin feels very nice and the 40/20/40 seats makes it more utilitarian.
No reliability issues yet, but still a young car. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would advise you keep this on your short list if looking for this type of vehicle. The fuel savings will only off-set the extra cost if you plan to keep this car for a while, so drive the 28i and 28d back-to-back to decide for yourself.

Awesome Performance doesn't seem like your driving an SUV
Purchased my BMW X3 new in June of 2013 and I am very pleased on how it has performed. Great Handling great acceleration and very good on gas for the size. My car just turned 85000 kilometres and only a lightbulb needed to be replaced as well as the spark plugs. A lot of good tech in the car GPS with traffic updates, bluetooth and BMW apps. The only thing I am not pleased with is that it does not have a back-up camera. only sonar sensors front and rear. For the price of the car it should be standard. Also has All in all great SUV for Canadian families and AMAZING SNOW CAPABILITIES also!! would purchase again !!

A real ownere
I have driven BMW's for 18 years, the ride and handling are great This particular model X3 3.5 is far too computerized for most BMW shops to handle to the point of it being a servicing nightmare.
Personally, I find the limited storage space a real problem. No place for sunglasses or cell phone except in centre consol compartment. Limited charging outlets (one) limited usb outlets (one).
I think most reviews for this vehicle on this site are either from dealers or people that have less than 30,000 on the vehicle.

Not same quality as earlier years
Purchased SUV new. has had numerous electrical issues. Both front wheel bearings (L&R) failed at 83k dealer helped cost out of warranty, then $1000 engine fan failed at 90k ... overall disappointing quality of components. Would not recommend if you want reliability.

Terrible on Gas, Unfortable, and Annoying Electrical Sensor Issues
Bought a certified used. Terrible on gas, get about 14L/100km even though trying my best to keep it down, thats with about 50% highway 50% city. Requires premium gas. Was spending about $400/month in gas alone. Super uncomfortable as the ride is way too stiff. You feel every bump and fly all over the place like you are going over speed bumps. Lots of electrical and sensor issues in BMW's. Based on a mechanics word, the X3 is one of the more reliable of the series...yet I was in every other month for a year constantly dealing with issues including transmission/gearing issues when trying to accelerate from a stop, or when turning a corner, the car would either stop giving gas or blast forward - very unsafe! Also it has a "fuel cap" sensor issue, where the check engine light comes on and you have to go to the dealer to reset it, even though you are tightening your gas cap properly. Happened to me 4 times in 1 year. Sold it after 14 months and wouldn't buy again.

This is my first BMW X3. I did my research on reliability and driveability and all was top notch. Only when I drove it did I comprehend that they are indeed the Ultimate Driving Machine. Mine came with a 6-year, 160,000 Km B/B warranty. I couldn't be more impressed. Dealer treats us like royalty!
