Jeep Cherokee 1981-2018Change

Horrible gas mileage but otherwise dependable. 4 x 4 is great, good stereo etc. I loved driving every minute of it. It was green, and beautiful! I had 1996 Jeep Cherokee LS or something like that, purchased from a co-worker. I was very happy with the purchase, and I would really, for sure, kinda want to buy a newer one.

This car has terrific four wheel drive. Its a very rugged vehicle. It seats five comfortably and has space for everything you may need in the back.

Has never let us down. Purchased at 7 years young used and this truck has started every time I turned the key with no hesitation, whether - 30 or + 30. It has taken us daily driving as well as camping in the north with our dogs regularly and most conveniently. I could never get it stuck in snow and swear it ran better when the weather was inclement as if it knew that it was made for that ! I have replaced a battery, brakes, a brake line and an alternator and thats it ! Sadly the price of fuel has set the tone for something newer and less thirsty and when I sell this Jeep at 191000 kms. it will honestly be a tough moment for me. Somebody knew what they were doing when they designed this vehicle and I hope that the Cherokee is resurrected at some future time as it well deserves it!

Have had a 1992 Cherokee Country and a 1999 Cherokee Classic. Both were excellent for ride, cargo and reliability. Cheap to fix with an honest mechanic and fun to drive. The mpg is the only reason I sold the second one, but if in a rural area with bush and gravel, I'd get another in a second! Good used buy and fun to modify !!!
Total owner ship was about 9 years, I put about 110000k on each.

My cousin had a JEEP YJ and told me you bought a Jeep drive it like a Jeep, I was just going to use it as a highway vehicle, but like my cousin said take it 4x4ing I was hooked on 4x4ing. My first xmas at my grandparents farm my cousins and I loaded up in the 2 Jeeps and headed out. The YJ had a lift kit, and was rolling up and down the ditches on the gravel road, there was very little snow in Alberta that year. My family in my Jeep were saying follow Cary in his YJ, so i drove in the ditch, after a few hills i came up to one angle and my bumper wouldn't clear the hill, I needed a lift kit!!! So i went the long way around the hill and found a safer way up. When at the top I was watching Cary showing off going up and down the steep hill. So with no experience I headed down the steep ditch where my bumper had bottomed out earlier, when I went over the top the four shoulder seatbelts clicked, and down I went brakes applied fully, we crept down and at the bottom my bumper stopped us. Yup NO CLEARANCE, my family in my Jeep were all voicing their concerns LOL. I put the 4x4 in low mode, put the Jeep in reverse, and put the throtle down, and up we went, smooth as silk, right up and over the top. Cary already had his winch cable out, I rolled down my window and he had this wierd look on his face and said "COOL", I said put that winch cable away EH! I was so impressed, this Jeep is worth $800/month payments, YIPES. My inexperience put the Jeep on its roof the next spring. After the new roof and glass were on, my Jeep and I still 4x4 for the next 22 years, all safe and totally cool. Today I went to the car wash so I could take my AUTO TRADER pictures and that was the longest and saddest 8 minute drive I have ever had in it. All I could think about is this is the last time I'm going to wash it, I was so sad. I hope the person who buys it has a safe journey in all their travels!!!

This little truck hauled my gear and I around for many summers.

Great offroad or on the city streets. The ride was comfy and although it wasn't the most fuel efficient vehicle i've owned it made up for it from a practical perspective.

With the right set of tires you can take this little truck anywhere with confidence.

This was an extreamly reliable car. I got into an accident in my Jeep and it, quite honestly, held up like a tank. My friends and I all left the scene unharmed. the comfort was quite average for an SUV and the performance of the 4x4 and the in-line 6 Cylender engine were great assets in the Winter. This jeep has a great amount of Cargo space and excellent visibility due to the almost completly vertical windows.

Has been great. I like it a lot. Really cool and nice. So fun with friends and family. One day I will miss, but for now only good times to follow

The Jeep Cherokee Sport is a fun vechile to drive. It's super off road and handles great in the snow. The interior is roomy and the back seat folds down for extra of cargo space. It has a full size spare tire.

I bought this Jeep new after university and enjoyed years of camping, skiing & road-tripping. After some initial failures (both automatic windows stopped functioning in the first 2 years), the Jeep held us extremely well. The fun of driving outweighed the cost of the gas. I kept waiting for it to fail to have an excuse to buy a new car. . . .and it just kept going. After 11 years, I finally had to part ways but I still miss it.

I purchased a 2 door jeep cherokee and drove it for 3 years. It was a fun truck to drive, had good cargo space for gear and handled well in bad weather. Fuel economy was poor and maintenance issues keep popping up causing it to be less reliable than expected. I don't miss the truck, but maybe that had to do with the burgundy colour!

Jeep Cherokee is a classic 4x4 off road vehicle and just what I wanted when starting to explore British Columbia's back roads. I purchased this 1999 Cherokee when it was 3yrs old - just back off a lease, and it was 12yrs old when I disposed of it. I really loved the trunk space, it was great for my black Labrador dog. The exterior design was a classic for me but performance was a bit sluggish then again it was 4x4 so I can't complain too much. I loved and cared for this vehicle for 9 years but in the end was glad to trade it in for a new car. I miss those off road adventures but not so much the poor fuel economy and repair bills. Every time I see a black Cherokee on the road I have to stare to see if its my old Jeep, that's how fondly I think of it even a few years later. I think this SUV would be a great addition if you are looking for something cheap that's also 4x4
