2003 Mazda MPV

by phantom9389 on 06-22-2017
Decent Vehicle
This car is reliable and gets you from point A to point B. It's not going to win a beauty contest. and it has difficulty in winter weather sometimes up hills etc. It's not the most comfortable car. I'd say the seats are average. Somethings are backwards like the gas tank lock because of it being a foreign car. Ours is still going but its starting to rust out. Also, parts can be difficult to find and expensive because of the make.

Great family car!
This car has been very reliable and very comfortable. It is also very versatile with the back seats folding flat for transporting large items. We have never had to rent a truck due to the space inside with the seats flat and the middle seats taken out. We have had no major issues other than regular maintenance of the vehicle.

Lots of problems
I have had this van for about 5 years. In those 5 years I have had the following issues:
1. CEL came on. It was the spark plug coils. had to replace all 6 ($500 later)
2. Driver side window regulator is gone.
3. Passenger side airbag is always off.
4. Had to replace entire gas tank ($500 later)
5. Air Bag light (DS) is blinking.
6. had to replace front sway links
too name a few.

Reliable vehicle
We purchased this minivan new and it's been a great vehicle for seven years. Would be an excellent vehicle for a student or as a second or third family car.

BEST MINIVAN EVER DRIVES LIKE A SPORTS CAR
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MINIVANS IN THE MARKET LOOKS LIKE A LUXURY SPORTS SUV AND EASY TO MODIFY THE MINIVAN TO LOOK SPORTY WITH SIDE SKIRTS FRONT AND REAR SKIRTS AND SPOILERS MAKES IT LOOK MORE LIKE A MODERN 2015 SUV WITH BETTER FUEL ECONOMY AND DRIVES LIKE A SPORTS CAR -MAZDASPEED , ALSO EASY TO MAINTAIN EASY ON THE WALLET AND PARTS ARE CHEAP AND LESS MONEY SPENT ON INSURANCE TOO This is a great minivan. Very comfortable, and nice to drive. It's smaller than most minivans, and drives a bit like a car. It's amazing in the snow! Like it's glued to the road. Fuel mileage is decent for a van. Parts are pretty easy to find when needed, and many usual repairs can be done by the dealer

Zoom, Zoom in a van
Compact size, decent styling, good handling, reasonable power all add up to a very competent family vehicle.
However the Ford DNA was my main concern when I was considering these vans. The 3.0 L V6 is the same as what's in a Taurus & other Ford vehicles of this vintage.
While 200hp is more than adequate for a van of this size, do not think that this means it is a tow vehicle, it Is Not!
The transmissions are the weak link w/ these vans. I would recommend transmission service & fluid change at least twice as frequently as whats recommended!
The van drives very well, it is comfortable versatile & while having more compact dimensions than the other minivans in the segment, it is still a van, with the fold flat rear seat it can take a lot of cargo & 4 people without blinking!
Generally positive experience so far.

This van has never let us down
This Mazda MPV LX van has been from one end of the Island to the other and has never let us down. We've had to replace the battery once and had to replace two of the cylinders at the Mazda dealership in Charlottetown but other than that, we're going to miss her. Here's hoping she will be going to a nice owner.

Good family van.
The things I love about this van is the sliding door windows come down. I love the stow and go seating and there is tons of room in the back for camping gear, baseball, golf clubs etc that active families always need room for. As far as reliability goes, this van has done good. Of course there is routine maintenance which costs an average of $500 per year for a household with no mechanic. Not a lot of guts for hills but slow and steady wins the race.....

Loving my MPV, would buy another
A great car overall, it's got a sleek design inside and out. I love the stowaway seating in the back row and how easy it is to put up and down. Tailgating seats are also a great feature but, alas, I haven't had the need to use them. It drives smoothly and hardly noisy on the inside. Just a few problems, my CD player (multi-disk) no longer works and there is no input jack for my iPod. The body is starting to rust, lots of little spots, and I know I'll have to fix that in the near future but I blame that on lack of care from the previous owner. The back row is a bit short but, since this is a compact mini-van, I'm not all too concerned but adults may have trouble on long trips with being in the back row. All in all, it's a great car and I would buy another MPV without hesitating.

very reliable
I've had my MPV for over 10 years and aside from some minor maintenance have never had anything major go wrong. Van is extremely roomy with rear air control. Fuel economy is very good compared to some of the other minivan's I've driven. Replacement parts are fairly inexpensive and easy to obtain. They don't make the MPV anymore but if you're looking for a reliable used van go for it.

Reliable but not luxurious
We have had our MPV for 6 years (we bought it used) and have had very little trouble with it beyond routine maintenance (replacing a belt, ect. here and there). It is billed as a 7 passenger vehicle but the back and even the middle seats are not wide enough and do not have enough leg room to make a comfortable ride for an average adult. We bought it primarily for the fact that the back seat folds flat into the floor and that certainly has been a useful feature at times.

Long lasting car.
This car was made to last. If you want a car that is affordable, a family vehicle and lasts for years upon years then this is the car for you. There is a lot of space so all your family members and more can fit, and doesn't look half bad while driving it either. I'd recommend buying it any day.

Great little Mini-van
We drove the MPV for over 4 years with only minor issues. It's a touch smaller than other vans on the market but the interior trim is much better than most. It's stood up well to our 3 boys and countless soccer practices. Great power from the 3 liter V6 and the 5 speed automatic transmission has been a dream. The fold in the floor seats are great and is the slide by side middle row that lets you change from a short bench to outside seating to separate feuding youngsters.

Will not settle for anything less than a Mazda MPV GT
It is our current van and I love it! I love the leather interior, love that it is a very reliable Japanese car. I love my automatic side doors and the convenience of being able to move the passenger seats sideways. We have traveled far and wide with our Mazda... travelling thousands of miles to and from the US. If I can bring this to Asia, I would!

My girls love it and we can stuff it with loads of things without having to worry about storage capacity. It is also sort of tinted so it does prevents a lot of glare. Performance of the engine is topnotch!

It has never failed us despite it being 8 years old by now. My husband has always wanted to have an MPV and I now know why. I would not settle for anything less and I drive and ride it with pride!
