2000 Audi allroad

Trim: ALLROAD QUATTRO

ALLROADS LEAD TO FUN!
Fully loaded with options, heated seats, leather, sunroof, power adjustable suspension...this station wagon on steroids has it all!

Lots of fun on the road or off (with the right tires).

This one expensive ride, but with tremendous resale value you can put on a few thousand kilometers and still sell it back for the same price you bought it...

1998 Acura EL

Just a fancy Civic
This little car is really just a Honda Civic with style...

Same Honda reliability, fuel efficiency and size....masked simply with a slightly sexier sleeker design.

I was somewhat disapointed with the price as it didn't really reflect the small amount of luxury comparred to it's sister car the Civic.

Very nice ride, but a little too expensive for what it really was.

2011 Subaru Impreza

by Jake706 on 10-18-2012
Subaru delight
The size of this compact went up compared to previous model years...which means a bit more space in an already fun reliable automobile.

The nice digital guages (in red) make it a pleasure for the eyes to drive at night. Subaru also fixed the awkward cup holder locations in this car compared to previous years.

The AWD means rain or shine, snow or mud, you will always be in control of your ride.

Really enjoyed driving this car.

2001 Volkswagen Golf

Das Auto was sweet!
Fun to drive. Cheap on gas. Great audio. Superb handling.

This 4dr hatch back was also very spacious with it's fold-down seats.

This very fuel efficient 1.8L 4cyl had a ton of "pep" and was a pure joy to drive.

Grand Prix GT FUN
I've rented this specific model for many weeks when it was brand new and I travelled a lot for work.

This very spacious, comfortable sedan came with a loads of horsepower and truly was a performance driven vehicle.

Giant trunk space to lug whatever you wanted and tons of setting on the power seat meant you could enjoy this fast ride with comfort!

If I had the money at the time i would certainly entertain the idea of purchasing this car.

1995 Suzuki Grand Vitara

by Jake706 on 10-18-2012
Great city SUV
Bigger than it's younger "sidekick", this SUV had all the comforts of convenience but lacked the offroad pizzaz from it's little brother.

This automatic transmission SUV was very decent on gas in the city, but as soon you started going over the 100kph you could site and watch the needle on the gas gauge plumett.

Expensive tires and other parts meant high cost of ownership but it did make for a very comfortable ride...

1992 Chevrolet Sprint

Tiny little road rocket
This car came with no bells and whistles...no fancy rims...no air conditioning....but for a domestic car this thing ran forever and cost very little to run.

The 3 cyl engine (yes, 3) meant it used just a little bit more gas that most lawn mowers...which for a starving student was a god send!

It was very small and light which means even those 3 cylinders gave it enough power to make it very fun to drive!

I had a lot of fun driving this little rocket!

4x4 FUN
This little truck hauled my gear and I around for many summers.

Great offroad or on the city streets. The ride was comfy and although it wasn't the most fuel efficient vehicle i've owned it made up for it from a practical perspective.

With the right set of tires you can take this little truck anywhere with confidence.

Cheap parts
This was the family station wagon for years, and i must admit the only Ford I ever drove that didn't brake down within it's first year of ownership.

This spacious wagon model was certainly built for practical purposes and not to show off for it's looks...

It drove well, and wasn't too had on the gas either even though it did seem sluggish at times to drive.

Style meets performance
This car is an absolute joy to drive...even the 5spd manual 4cyl model drives like most V6's would...

Very spacious and comfortable for both the driver and passenger this car hits the mark on all fronts.

It's a Honda...enough said!

First CARAVAN...and last...
OK...so I got this van for free from a friend of the family...who was going to donate it to charity....I should have let them!

Burned gas...suspension went very quickly...rusted like crazy only after 1 winter....kept stalling....this thing was a lemon!

It was however cheap to repair...problem was I kept needing to repair stuff :(

For a family of 4 very active people it did help lug the hockey bag, groceries, and other gear...but that's about all it was good for.

On the highway it chugged more gas than beer consumend by a fraternity member in one year!

I hear the new Caravan's are nice...but I truly hated this one.

MY FIRST LOVE
Flip up headlights...sunroof...full power group...including lumbar / bucket seats...5 fun gears of fun in a very fuel effecient sporty 2 door hatch!

OK...this was the first car I ever bought...and I loved it...i was sad to see it go but started a family and the wife made me get rid of it, otherwise I would have totally kept it!

It was cheap to maintain (nothing broke), great on gas (4cyl) and it handled like a dream!

I'd buy it again...in that bodystyle too...really didn't care much for post 2000 body styling...

1995 Toyota Tercel

GAS MISER!!!
2nd Toyota I ever drove. Extremely cheap on gas. As a student at the time, that was a big bonus. Insurance was cheap too.

OK, so it wasn't a Ferrari...didn't turn many heads...but it kept more money in pocket than most cars i've owned...

At 200,000km this car just felt like it started to be "broken-in".

Toyota really did used to make good reliable cars...before all the nasty recalls :) This was one of them.

5SPD AWD FUNTASTIC RIDE!!!
Can't remember having so much fun in a 4 cyl car before!

I pounded this car to the ground...it just wouldn't die!....368,000kms later and I still managed to sell it for almost $1000!

Winter blues? Not with this ride!...I looked forward to the biggest and nastiest of snow falls just so I could be the only guy out having fun on the roads with this miniature powerhouse of fun!

Drove it very hard for over 50,000km and never had to replace a single thing on it. Totally loved this car! When I sold it, the money went to a 2001. Same car, but not fun options :(

I had knee surgery and needed to go automatic...not as fun, but easier on the joints :)

1998 Toyota Corolla

Cheap on gas...no dangerous recalls...
So this car won't turn any heads....it won't dazzle you with any bells and whistles...but it can do Ottawa / Toronto round trip on almost only 1 tank of gas...

Very reliable...engine never died...tranny never gave me any issues either. Camry may have been the best selling car in North America for decades but it's little brother Corolla wasn't far behind.

Good resale value even with high mileage and overall cost of ownership was very appealing. I'd buy one again.

1999 Subaru Legacy

FUN FUN FUN!!!
This AWD 4dr sedan alhough not very big back in '99 still offered just the right amount of room in the rear seats...much more so than the Impreza models i've owned anyways!

It drove like a dream even though it had more than 240,000kms on it when I purchased it.

This Subaru's AWD really is amazing...rain, snow...doesn't matter. I tried fishtailling this car time and time again with no success....the feeling of control is second to none. As good as Audi but a fraction of the price!

Totally LOVED this car!

1997 Toyota RAV4

by Jake706 on 10-12-2012
Worst Toyota I ever drove
This 5spd 2 door was a rare find...the engine not dying was it's only bonus however as the bland interior and bubbly annoying exterior certainly didn't win it any design awards...

It ran well over 350,000kms and was re-sold after the fact but I doubt I would ever drive such an ugly beast again...

It was only a FWD Rav-4 which did make it cheap on gas...but only if you kept it under 80KPH!...on the highway it drank more gas that a Hummer it seemed...

Wasn't extremely roomy although it did have a lot of cargo space with the rear seats folded away. The lift gate wasn't very practical...it wasn't really a "lift" gate, but rather a swing out...which made it annoying at times of rain since it provided no shelter while putting the groceries away!

Fun little rocket!
This was the second car I ever owned and although it was also the smallest, it was quite roomy given it's hatchback & rear split fold down seat advantage.

Although the car was extremely fun to drive, after it hit the 200,000km mark the repairs kept coming and coming...alternators, starters, brakes master cylinder etc etc...

I did run the car pretty hard though so it's fair to say I was partially at fault.

This fun little FWD 5spd manual was extremely cheap on gas and was so light yet powerful I never had any issues driving it in the winter.

Certainly a terrific winter beater or commuter car!

Honda Reliability
This car was my favority mid-size sedan ever! Roomy 4 door, a comfortable yet sporty ride with plenty of kick in a 5spd manual transmission.

Great fuel economy and a truly low cost of ownership scored high in my books!

I literally drove this car into the ground with over 380,000km's by the time I was done with it.... the last 50,000kms were driven without a single drop of oil as I knew the resale wouldn't be all that specatular as the owner allowed for too much rust and I couldn't have been bothered so when the oil pan gasket went, i didn't bother spending any money to fix it so I waited until the head gasket simply blew out...didn't expect it to last 50,000km without a drop of oil, but it did.

It's a Honda...need i say more.

2001 Subaru Impreza

AMAZING WINTER CAR!!!
This is the 3rd Subaru I own and the first in an automatic transmission.

This car will take whatever Mother Nature or Jack Frost throw your way! Although it's obscure cup holder location(s) may frustrate you a bit this little beast will make up for it in terms of reliability and perfromance in any type of road conditions.

With the proper tires it's AWD makes for a well controlled ride and gives you just the right amount of confidence to leave the house when you otherwise wouldn't dare too!

I owned the same model prior to this one but it had over 340,000kms and all the bells and whistles... I sold it for just under $1000 and I never put a dime into it during the year I drove it.

My current car is as base model as they get...crank widows (which doubles as the only A/C you will get) and the only standard power option are the 2 side folding power mirrors.

Compared to the variety of FWD cars I've owned in the past it is slightly more expensive on gas but having that AWD is worth every penny at the pump.

I absolutely LOVE this car and will certainly keep purchasing Subarus going forward.
