Aston Martin Muscles up DB11 with New AMR

Aston Martin has just launched a new flagship DB11. The AMR model adds speed, acceleration, and handling prowess. And you better believe there's more carbon fibre.

The DB11 AMR replaces the DB11 V12. But don't worry, it's still packing 12 cylinders. From the 5.2L of displacement and a pair of turbochargers, the engine makes 630 hp. That's 30 more than the DB11 V12 and 127 more than the V8 model. Torque stays the same at 516 lb-ft.

The extra power trims 0.2 seconds off of the run to 100 km/h, which arrives in 3.7 seconds. It'll hit 334 km/h flat out. That makes it the fastest current Aston Martin. It has been fitted with a new and more vocal exhaust to make sure that everyone can hear the V12. As Aston puts it, the car "expresses its character more explicitly" when in sport mode.

The suspension has been re-tuned for a better connection to the road, but this is still a grand tourer. That means a comfortable ride when you're conquering continents, but the ability to carve corners better than before. Helping you in your grand touring, the AMR is available with tailored matching luggage.

Changes outside are subtle, but that's the idea. The AMR gets black trim with smoked taillights, dark headlight surrounds, a dark grille, and black exhausts. It also has a gloss black roof and side sills. The interior gets the same colour theme with monotone leather and Alcantara. Breaking up that sombre interior is a lime center stripe. The car adds more exposed-weave carbon fibre pieces, like the hood blades and side strakes. The engine cover and steering wheel are carbon as well.

If the pedestrian AMR is just too common, there will be a limited edition model in Stirling Green and lime. That one gets even more carbon detailing and satin chrome, with availability limited to just 100 cars worldwide.

Deliveries of the Aston Martin DB11 AMR are expected to start this quarter.
