Kia is adding a new engine to the Stinger lineup, for those who are okay with a touch less sting in their sports sedan.
The twin-turbo 3.3L V6 that delivers 365 hp in the Stinger impresses, but not everyone wants or needs that level of performance. So Kia is bringing a 2.0L turbo to the lineup.
That four-cylinder engine makes 255 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. If the V6-powered 2018 Stinger GT is aimed at the Mercedes-AMG C43 and BMW 340i, this one is aimed at the C300 and 330i. Still impressive performance targets, just a little more affordable and a little less thirsty. Canadian fuel economy figures for the 2.0L engine aren't yet available, but in the US the 2.0L beats the six by 1.2 L/100 km city and 1.3 highway, with a rating of 11.2/8.1 respectively. Expect similar numbers when our figures are announced.
Like in its big brother, the 2.0L Stinger comes in GT trim, with an eight-speed automatic. Unlike in the US, where this engine is already offered with rear-drive, Canadians get all-wheel drive only. Other Stinger 2.0 features include 18-inch alloys, performance suspension, 10-way power driver seat, heated steering wheel, and LED lighting including adaptive headlights. It's equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Pricing for the Stinger 2.0L GT-Line will be announced later, and the car will arrive as a 2019 model.
