GMC Goes Dark with Graphite Edition Yukons

GMC is making the Yukon a little darker. The all-new Graphite Edition brings a blacked-out exterior and lets buyers add some handling improvements too.

The Graphite Edition Yukon is an add-on to the SLT trim and is available in two or four-wheel drive on both Yukon and longer Yukon XL. It comes standard with a 5.3L V8 and adds 22-inch black wheels with Carbon Flash Metallic pockets. It has gloss black steps, black accents, a black chrome mesh grille, black fog light surrounds, a body-colour grille surround, black window trim, and still more black trim.

You're not going to find any shiny chrome here, the only highlights are the silver Yukon and SLT badges. The trucks themselves will be offered in onyx black, white frost, and dark sky metallic.

Buyers who want more performance with their Yukon are in luck too. The Graphite Performance Edition adds a 6.2L V8 making 420 hp and 468 lb-ft. It's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Keeping the extra power in check, the Performance Edition uses GM's Magnetic Ride Control. The magnetic shocks use sensors to read the road and can alter the suspension damping using their magnetically charged fluid to adapt to changing road conditions almost instantly. The suspension system can be soft over bumps and firm in the corners without driver intervention.

Other features on the Performance Edition include a low-range transfer case on 4x4 models, a trailer brake controller, larger alternator, high capacity air cleaner, Bose active noise cancellation, a head-up display, and 8.0-inch screens for the driver information centre in the dash and the infotainment system with navigation.

The 2019 Yukon and Yukon XL Graphite Editions are expected to arrive this summer.
