The all-new 2022 Honda Civic goes on sale today and the automaker has announced pricing for its popular sedan. The new car starts for around $1,000 more than the outgoing sedan but this time offers a host of new driver assistance features and LED headlights. Plus for the first time on the Canadian-built Civic, a Canadian winter-friendly heated steering wheel is on the options list.
Part of why the Honda Civic has been Canada's best-selling car for 23 years is its strong value, and the new model looks to continue that. Honda Sensing driver assistance is now included on all models and has an expanded suite of features for 2022 featuring blind spot information, traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision warnings as well as traffic sign recognition. Honda says that the adaptive cruise control function and lane-keeping assist have both been adjusted to make them feel more natural in use.
Base 2022 Honda Civic models get a 2.0L four-cylinder with 158 hp, while the Touring has a 180-hp 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder. All Honda Civic models get a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The 2.0L engine adds a start-stop function for 2022 to help save fuel.
A 7.0-inch infotainment screen is standard and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a partially digital dash, and LED headlights even on base LX trim.
The EX adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control. Next up is the Civic Sport, which adds 18-inch alloys, black exterior trim, and Sport model seat fabric, paddle shifters, and a sport driving mode.
The top-of-the-line Touring trim adds a 9.0-inch touchscreen and gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also has a fully digital dash, leather seating, parking sensors front and rear, and a Bose premium audio system.
The 2022 Honda Civic starts from $24,465, an increase of $1,065 from last year. It is on sale now at dealers across the country, and we've already driven it to let you know how the new car stacks up. Expect the Hatchback to be revealed next month and for the performance models to follow.
