The 2023 Lexus ES is the latest model to drop the brand's touchpad interface for the new and much more user-friendly touchscreen multimedia system. Along with that big change, the 2023 Lexus ES adds three new F Sport trims. The starting price for 2023 is $46,850, an increase of $650.
The Lexus multimedia interface is an all-new software package that started to show up late last year and is quickly spreading across the lineup. It includes cloud navigation services and a "hey Lexus" intelligent voice assistant, along with the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
An 8.0-inch screen is standard on the ES, with a 12.3-inch version available on higher trims of the car. The sedan finally drops the finicky Lexus touchpad that was a brand signature for years, but the ES still offers a CD player for drivers wanting that now-rare bit of tech.
For 2023, the Lexus ES continues to offer three powertrains: the ES 250 AWD with a 203-hp 2.5L four-cylinder engine, eight-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive; the ES 350 with an eight-speed auto, front-wheel drive, and a 302-hp 3.5L V6; and the ES 300h with a 2.5L four-cylinder hybrid system making 215 hp.
The entry grade is the ES 250 AWD Signature for $46,850, which offers 17-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a smart key with push-button start, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
Entry to the V6 engine is the ES 350 Premium ($50,550), which also includes the 12.3-inch screen, seat and mirror memory, wireless phone charging, and a parking assistant. The ES 350 F Sport Design is a new trim that adds F Sport design features like 18-inch wheels, F Sport spoiler and badges, and an F Sport body kit.
The same F Sport Design trim is offered on the ES 300h hybrid, new for 2023. The ES 300h will also get a full F Sport trim grade, which comes with sport-tuned adaptive variable suspension, adaptive lights, active noise control, and interior luxury items like Mark Levinson audio, heated wheel, and sports seats.
