The 2024 Audi RS 6 Performance is a Six-Figure Steal

The 2024 Audi RS 6 Performance is pricier than ever and worth every penny.

Its starting sticker price of $138,665 is up nearly $6,000 compared to the current model year, while the 2024 Audi RS 7 Performance rings in at $143,965 — a similar increase. What these models deliver is a little more and a little less, depending where you look.

Take engine output. While these fraternal twins use the same 4.0L V8 as before, the bigger turbos and extra boost bestowed upon it results in 621 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Those figures are up from 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Both cars are also a bit quicker than the current versions, clocking in at a claimed 3.4 seconds in the sprint from zero to 100 km/h (down from 3.6).

Helping them accomplish that is a transmission that’s said to shift more quickly than before, plus a lighter mechanical centre differential that shuffles torque to the front and rear wheels as required. Both cars are also lighter than before, with some eight kg (17 lb) of sound-deadening material ditched, plus optional lightweight wheels that send a combined 20 kg (44 lb) to the scrap heap. The optional carbon-ceramic brakes shed another 34 kg (75 lb).

Looking at the RS 6 Performance in particular, the $138,665 asking price is a relative bargain. Not only is it an outstanding car, but it’s also cheaper than its rival Mercedes-AMG E 63 wagon that starts at $142,000 before freight and tax. Then there’s the RS 7 Performance that’s just as great to drive; at $143,695 it’s pricier than the E 63 sedan ($139,000), while the BMW M5 Competition undercuts them both ($125,700).
