History/Overview
The 2020 Cadillac CT5 is an all-new model for the brand; ostensibly a replacement for the CTS, it will soon be joined by the smaller CT4, which is covered in its own buyer's guide entry.
Available Trims
Cadillac offers the new 2020 CT5 in Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trims. All use a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine, a 10-speed transmission, and rear-wheel drive. However, AWD is optional in all three configurations. A V-series model with a turbo V6 will join the CT5 range later in the 2020 model year.
Standard Features
On the outside, Luxury trim comes fitted with 18-inch wheels with all-season tires, automatic on-off headlights, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, passive keyless entry, and remote engine start.
Inside, Luxury models get a heated steering wheel, heated front seats with two-way lumbar, 12-volt power outlets, the CUE infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control, HD radio, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, tilt-and-telescopic steering, transmission shift paddles, a nine-speaker stereo, and a split-folding rear seat.
Standard safety items include forward collision alert with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking.
Premium Luxury adds auto-dimming driver's side and rearview mirrors, ventilated front seats with memory and adjustable bottom cushion length, wireless smartphone charging, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and lane change alert.
Sport brings Brembo brakes, 19-inch wheels and tires, a body kit, grey-tinted taillights, four-way front-seat lumbar, metal sport pedals, and a sport steering wheel.
Key Options
Luxury can be optioned with a sun and sound package with navigation, a sunroof, wireless charging, and an 8.0-inch driver info display.
A separate navigation pack brings a 15-speaker stereo.
A Premium Luxury platinum package adds massaging front seats with adjustable bolsters; the driver assist group brings adaptive cruise control, and a parking pack gains power-folding side mirrors, a power steering column, and a camera-based rearview mirror.
A lighting package's highlight is front cornering lights.
Fuel Economy
Cadillac's fuel consumption estimates for the CT5 are 10.4/7.3 L/100 km (city/highway) with RWD, and 11.0/7.7 with AWD. As of this writing, the V-series' V6's economy has not been rated.
Competition
Cadillac envisions the CT5 attracting shoppers who might be considering a BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz's C-Class, the Lexus IS, the Volvo S60, and Acura's TLX.
