History/Overview
Infiniti's midsize sedan has gone through multiple name changes over the years and generations, and the latest is this Q50. The Q50 was first launched in 2013, and saw a major refresh in 2016. This is a performance sedan from a luxury brand that often flies below the radar but does offer some serious levels of performance, especially at the top of the range.
What's New
Though it's already been on the market for several years, there are no changes of note to the Q50 for 2021. There are no signs of a replacement model either.
Available Trims
The Q50 is offered in six trim levels, starting with Pure, then Luxe, Essential Tech, Sport Tech, Red Sport I-Line, and Red Sport I-Line ProActive. All have a 3.0L twin-turbo V6, though the lower trim models make 300 hp with 295 lb-ft of torque and Red Sport cars make 400 and 350. All are all-wheel drive and use a seven-speed automatic.
Standard Features
Luxe offers 17-inch alloys and graphite exterior trim, with LED head, tail, and fog lights. Inside are eight-way power-adjustable and heated from seats with a leather-wrapped heated wheel. The seats are leatherette. Luxe offers proximity key with push button ignition, dual-zone climate control, and an Infiniti dual HD display infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Driver assistance features include forward emergency braking and predictive forward collision warning.
Luxe adds 18-inch wheels and a power sliding roof. It also gets around view cameras with moving object detection, sonar front and rear, adaptive cruise, backup collision intervention, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.
Essential Tech adds a black grille with illuminated emblem and a body-colour trunk spoiler. Inside it gets leather seats with power-adjust lumbar for the driver and there is a Bose Performance Series 16-speaker audio system.
Sport Tech ups the wheels to 19-inches and has sportier-looking front and rear fascias. Inside, the cars get a special Saddle Brown leather.
Red Sport I-Line adds the more powerful engine along with 19-inch wheels and an axle-back exhaust with a more sporting sound. There is special black trim including painted mirror caps and rear window surround while the cabin has quilted semi-aniline leather sports seats.
Finally, Red Sport I-Line ProActive adds adaptive steering, adaptive front lights, blind spot intervention, lane departure prevention, and active lane control

The only options on Infiniti Q50 for 2021 are which colour paint you'd prefer.
Fuel Economy
Infiniti Q50 models are rated for 12.5 L/100 km city, 8.7 highway, while the Red Sport should get 12/5/9.3
Competition
The Infiniti Q50 offers a somewhat rarer choice for buyers looking at sedans like the Cadillac CT5, Acura TLX, Lexus ES, as well as German cars including Audi's A4, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the BMW 3 Series.
