2019 Infiniti QX60

The mid-size luxury crossover class has something for everyone, from performance-oriented models like the BMW X5 to vehicles like the Lexus RX, which delivers one of the most serene driving experiences in the category.

Somewhere in the middle is the Infiniti QX60, a three-row model that comes to the brand's showrooms riding on underpinnings shared with the Nissan Pathfinder.

Among those shared components is a 3.5L V6 engine that makes 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque and comes with a continously variable automatic transmission. In Canada, all QX60 models are all-wheel drivers.

Infiniti does a good job differentiating this model from its mid-priced cousin. The QX60 offers a posher drive than the Nissan, befitting its elevated price point and the better-known luxury brands with which Infiniti competes. Emphasizing Infiniti's effort to differentiate the QX60 from its mid-priced cousin is the addition of a Luxe trim designation as the step up from a base Pure variant carried over from 2018.

Other news includes the addition of blind spot warning and predictive forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking as standard kit in all trims.

Also new is a top-end Limited option package and a ProAssist package that comprises lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot intervention and automatic high beams.

Pure trim comes with leatherette upholstery, 18-inch wheels, heated and power-adjustable front seats, sliding second-row seats, rear door alert, InTouch infotainment system, among many other items.

Luxe trim brings a 13-speaker Bose stereo, driver's seat memory and entry-exit assist, side mirrors that tilt down in reverse, driver's seat lumbar, heated steering wheel, remote engine start and roof rails.

Option groups include packages called Essential (navigation, surround-view exterior camera system with moving object detection and rain-sensing wipers); Theatre (rear-seat entertainment system); ProAssist (radar cruise control, backup collision intervention, distance control assist, front and rear parking sensors, auto-dimming side mirrors, lane departure warning and prevention, automatic high beams and pre-crash front seat belts) and Sensory (15-speaker stereo).

The new Limited package adds interior contrast stitching, piano black trim, leather trimmed steering wheel centre and grab handles, black headliner, sun visors and pillars, stone-coloured quilted and perforated leather seating and 20-inch wheels with dark finish.

Fuel consumption estimates are 12.5/9.0 L/100 km (city/highway).
