History/Overview
The Arteon returns for 2020 after its debut last year as VW's new flagship car model. It's a replacement for the Passat CC, bringing style and luxury features to bridge the gap between VW and its upscale Audi brand.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
This year, the Arteon's driver assistance package becomes standard, adding 360-degree exterior cameras, lane keep assist and park assist to the car's basic features list. Also new this year are heated washer nozzles.
Available Trims
VW offers the Arteon in a single Execline trim. Power is from a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed transmission, and standard AWD.
Standard Features
Arteon's new standard safety kit means the car comes with a full suite of safety and driver assists. Lane keep assist, 360-degree cameras and park assist join adaptive cruise control, adaptive LED headlights with automatic high beams, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert.
The Arteon's cabin is fitted with a 12-way power driver's seat with lumbar and massage, Nappa leather upholstery, LED front reading lights, ambient interior and footwell lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, three-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
Infotainment is handled through an 8.0-inch infotainment display, which controls, a 10-speaker stereo and navigation. Also included are passive keyless entry and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Outside, the car is dressed with 18-inch wheels and tires, dynamic chassis control, LED taillights, power-folding/auto-dimming side mirrors, and a power tailgate.
Key Options
The sole Arteon option is an R-Line package that adds 20-inch wheels and tires, aluminum door sills, a black headliner, silver interior trim, and a heated steering wheel.
Fuel Economy
Volkswagen's fuel consumption estimates for the Arteon are 11.5/8.2 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Arteon's in-between status lines it up with other aspirational luxury cars like the Toyota Avalon, Kia Stinger, and Nissan Maxima.
