2012 Jeep Patriot

by Jeepfan on 01-22-2013
Great ride with very few upsets
This is a good entry level SUV. The 4x4 is almost a must, especially if your driving in snowy/slippery conditions.

PROS- Great fuel economy
Affordability
Great power for a 4 cyl
Lots of interior space

CONS - Transmission can be sluggish
Interior is made cheap with alot of plastic
Engine is loud
The air vents never stay in one spot as the air
pressure always forces them to point either up or
down which gets very annoying.

I would say it's worth a test drive.

Jeep Patriot Very Dependable as well as stylish
I love the Jeep Patriot for the ease of handling and the gas economy, what I don't really like is the deep wells for the floor and the cup holder that is permantly afixed to the floor in the back seat. It handles very well on ice and in snow, I have only had to use the 4 wheel drive a couple of times but this worked very well.
Overall I would purchase this vehicle again.

Great on gas
This is the perfect vehicle to have for travelling back and forth to the city from a rural home. It is great on gas and has 4x4 as well. Seat warmers is an added bonus. The only negative thing for me to say is that you can only lock/unlock the doors from the drivers side. To me that is ridiculous. If I had been there when my husband bought it I wouldn;t have picked this specific model

The Patriot is very affordable, good gas mileage, very confortable, a really nice design and smooth ride. It is fantastic for highway driving and is very roomy on the inside. It has tons of great features and I wouldn't give my Patriot up for any other ride.

Awesome, versitile jeep
amazing versatility, with the front seat fold-flat option, can easily carry 8' lumber, with the roof carrier we bought housing most of our tools. Great gas mileage, too, less than 9.2/100 after 5 years. Though it's not a performance vehicle, it has enough passing power. The cone-type transmission along with the 4 wheel drive, we've never been stuck, even driving during the snowy months in Ontario. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

2008 Jeep Patriot

Lemon
My Patty was the third car I owned, and absolutely the WORST thing I have ever in my life driven. It has given me nothing but problems, all my front end bearings have been broken, my entire suspension blew at the same time, the electronic throttle body fried itself so my auto drove like a bad standard. I have easily dumped $3000+ into repairs, and it breaks down in the absolute worse spots, like grocery shopping. Please, dear God, Do NOT buy this truck! Talk to a mechanic, they are notoriously terrible, youtube 'Patriot Transmission Failures'. And I get it, every car has its downsides, but I want to light mine on fire and laugh as it burns.
Outside of that, the seats are comfortable if you don't mind the jerking, the completely dropped suspension (and not on purpose) and the weird sounds.
The headlights are beyond useless if you actually drive at night on road without street lights.
Fuel mileage is iffy, its not great, its not terrible. On par with with my old Mazda3.
Don't expect to be flooring it past anyone however, because its gutless, unless you redline it.
It's exterior is a box on wheels, and aerodynamics don't exist but I liked the boxy look when I bought it.
Currently, my 2008 Patriot with a measily 187km is parked without plates. I will not put my child into that vehicle ever again.

A Beautiful Ride
Drove the Jeep from Calgary and loved the experience of driving this SUV to Vancouver Island. It rode like a dream. Seats are very comfortable. I thought it was excellent on gas even though gas prices were higher in the Interior of BC. I would definitely say I felt safe driving this vechicle!

Decent and economical
So far so good. Vehicle runs well, although not the greatest fuel mileage. A good value for a SUV if you want the attributes of SUV without a huge cost.

Love my Patriot
This Jeep is affordable and has a bunch of nice features for the price. It's got heated seats, heated mirrors, air conditioning, fog lights, power windows, cruise control, Bluetooth (that I couldn't go without), satelitte radio and a bunch more features that makes this Jeep lovable. It's very easy to handle and to park.

I Love My Patriot
It is reliable and fun to drive.
Tough well made and will likely last a long time with good maintenance.
No more changing tires for snow I have off road tires what a bonus they are.
Lot of different rosad driving conditions are covered by my four wheel drive plus a skid control.
I am really happy with my Jeep.

2010 Jeep Patriot

Jeep Patriot
2010 Patriot - You must get past the CVT transmission. Once used to that it is not a poor vehicle. Had the tranny replaced at 30K, fortunately still on warranty. Rear end slides out in 4x4 which is a little unexpected but it is a light vehicle, compromise for decent fuel economy. After two winters, the belts start to whine when warming it up in winter, a little annoying. As well, drips from the overflow of the coolant makes for a bit of mess on the driveway. Somewhat petty com[plaints to this point but I am not sure about longterm reliability. Bought it because it had not changed for a few years and you would hope that such manufacture defect would of been weeded out by then. Comfortable ride and the 4x4 is good due to the on the fly real 4 wheel drive rather than all wheel. Has always started and I have never missed an appointment due to the truck.
Overall, not bad but probably would not buy it again.

2009 Jeep Patriot tonka toy
The vehicle we purchased has had a number of issues right off the lot.Defective parts, parts falling off vehicle because of improper attachment and so forth. They say it designed for for minor off roading. Let me tell you from experience it isnt.I guarantee if you do you will have to do some sort of repair to it.We live on an acreage and we bought for the mileage it suppibly puts out. What car manufactures negelct to tell you that mileage is under ideal operating conditions. So if its windy, ect ect you mileage drops drastically. There is two holes in the engine copmpartment right into the cab which conviently lets mice into your vehicle.Plastic parts are constantly breaking of it and to replace them is quite a mint.Jeep has gone down in customer satisfaction. We have had to replace our transmission, clutch ect after only 10000 km. My wife and I are both ex military and standard is all we drove.Seals at 15000km ect ect. SO I confidently say BUYER BEWARE!!!

Was a Jeep skeptic, now I love them!
I've had this vehicle, which we bought used from a reputable dealership, since late 2010. It is very good on gas, and has had little wrong with it besides usual wear and tear. I plan on making my next vehicle a Jeep now.

Durable and Dependable: A True Northern Vehicle
I bought my 2010 Jeep Patriot a few weeks before I moved to Northern Ontario. And when I say Northern Ontario, I mean Northern; None of this "North" Bay nonsense.

Since that time just over two years ago I have faced numerous life and death situations in this Jeep. Oncoming transports, ice covered roads, washouts, road cave-ins: All handled smoothly by my beloved Patriot.

Comfortable inside and great looking outside this Jeep has everything you could want in a comfortable and fuel efficient SUV.

Granted, this Jeep will not go everywhere that a Wrangler will, but for Winter Road use, medium duty off roading, and those unexpected situations, this Jeep cannot be beat.

WAY better than a Minivan
We needed a bigger vehicle for our growing family and because we live on a farm we wanted a 4X4 as well. We got both in the Jeep Patriot. Because it is set on a car-type chassis it works really well for me to load things in and out of the back and the kids in and out of the backseat. We didn't need extra clearance and we still have the 4 wheel drive. My only 2 complaints are that the steering column is very big and because I have to have the driver's seat pulled forward I am always banging my knees when I get in or out. It would also be better if the back doors opened a little wider. It was a tight fit to get the babyseat in and out. Other that that I love everything about the Jeep, especially the heated seats!
