Purchased our Saturn in 2011, great value, very reliable, great gas mileage. Sadly GM stop making them & Pontiacs.

Great car for years
I bought this car over 10 years ago, this vehicle has never died on me. I have put very little work into it. It has over 218,000km and still going. If they still made this vehicle in 2018 I would purchase another one.
It's not fancy, no power windows, no wifi, no hands free, but I love it.

Best utility car ever!
We've had 7 Saturns & believe they are the best little utility cars around. Gonna miss it. They are great on the highway, very fuel efficient & affordable. Not as impressed with the IONs however the older models are the best.

1998 Saturn SL1

It's good enough, I guess....
The Saturn SL1 is the definition of the American made economy car. Boring and predictable. For a plastic car, they sure do rust fast underneath. The driver's side of the engine cradle on these cars turn to dust if they were not rust proofed from day one. As do the rear sills,
These cars also need to be serviced religiously, or they will let you down, esp that wonky 4 spd automatic. Miss a couple oil changes on the transaxle, and bye bye reverse gear!
Oh and dash rattles! Lordy, everything rattles in my SL1! At idle, over bumps, it's almost comical!
To be fair though, the SL1 was never intended to be awesome. Just really good on fuel and semi reliable IF it has been properly taken care of.

Reliable
I have owned my 2002 since 2006. Super cheap vehicle to operate. It will get you around town and you'll have lots of money to spend on other things.

Good little car
Nice little car for getting around and looks good also but was just to small for my needs. Body it all plastic so dents and dings are a thing of the past.

Fun little car to drive
I owned a great little Saturn and sometimes wish I had not sold it. It was extremely economical with a 5 speed transmission. Loved the suicide door. I was also pleased with the fact that the body did not rust. My reason for selling it was that my children were getting much bigger and involved in sports and it was not big enough for hauling large hockey bags. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. Keep up the regular maintenance and they will last forever.

Great Gas Milage
I bought this car used, it is an awesome vehicle when it comes to gas milage.
The only problems I have had with it is it has an oil leak and replaced the rad. . Most parts you can buy for it are usually a good cheap price except the glass.

We have owned this carn for quite some time. There have only been 3 issues. 1)BCM died once. 2)Water pump just died 3) Battery dies if you leave the ligts on more than 20 minutes.

Either than that, this is a very smooth running car. It works well in Canada through the winter and summer. It has enough power for when you have to merge onto the highway, but it doesn't drink gas. It is low to the ground. A very solid GM car. Even my mechanic agrees. He told me that Saturns are great and that it should be drive "till the engine block cracks".

With the exterior mold being plastic, and not metal, it does not rust, and any minor fender benders pop right back out.

1998 Saturn SL1

Why must the good die young?
It was sad to see Saturn disappear because they were a very reliable car manufacturer. The SL1 in particular had great fuel economy and long lasting parts. Although a bit lacking in the style and oerformance areas, it is an overal great car for people who want a cheap ride.

Why must the good die young?
I was sorely disappointed with the fact that GM shut down Saturn, because once my current one finally dies I was planning to get another. My SL1 might not be the best looking thing on the streets, but with todays gas prices her fuel economy is wonderful. Not only that but over all the years we've had her there's been no serious issues, the biggest thing having been the need to replace wheel bearings. An overall good car with good fuel economy and reliability that's a bit lacking in style and performance.

Bought my saturn used in 2006 and have only had to have minor repairs done in the last 6 years I have owned it. Runs like a dream, and the third door is really convenient.

1996 Saturn SL1

Great little car
I love my little saturn. For a used older car, she's a treat. Very reliable, great on gas...couldn't have asked for a better replacement for my last car...the saturn i had before this one was a 95, and it was also a very reliable vehicle. I am impressed with the saturns, & would definitely buy another. I would highly recommend a saturn to anyone! :)

2000 Saturn SL1

Its embarrasing
Its cheap and it runs, but that's it. I am not crazy about the interior, its losing its integrity. The arm rests are broken, a few vents have fallen out. The car is good on fuel, but it is slow in the pickup, it would not be winning any races. The back seat is a bench and the way the seat is shaped, it makes it very uncomfortable. It is quite low to the ground which makes it hard to climb in and out of the car.

2007 Saturn SL1

rickety, rattley ride
i bought this car after my beloved camry was written off after being hit by a drunk driver. in a kneejerk reaction i decided that the best course of action was to buy a (previously loved) plastic car.

the problem with a plastic car is...it's plastic. at highway speeds the interior would rattle. doors didn't feel solid when closed. as much as i loved that the exterior of my car was safe from scratches and dents, i'd rate this vehicle much higher if the interior was more substantial.

performance-wise this car is acceptable. it was quite peppy and had no major mechanical issues during the 3 years i owned it.
