Mini Gives 2020 Clubman Wagon a Freshening

Mini has just revealed a refreshed Clubman. If you're having trouble following the lineup, the Clubman's the four-door wagon version with the split rear doors. The 2020 Clubman gets a revised nose, new wheels, new trims, and some extra connectivity features.

It's not a massive refresh for what is one of the bigger Minis. After all, this is a brand that needs to stay mostly true to the styling of the original. Well, at least a little bit true. So the Clubman gets small tweaks, ones that update the look without making massive changes.

Starting with the grille, which has received a bit of a restyle, including a new hexagonal shape for the S. And a black surround is standard with chrome on the options list. The grille is wider, extending further underneath the headlights. Those headlights have also been tweaked with a larger reflector for halogen versions and a black shield inside. The LED modules on the optional lights are reshaped and Mini says they are brighter. A white DRL ring surrounds the lights and turns orange for the signal.

In the rear, LED lights are standard. Mini says they're better integrated into the rear split doors as well. Get the adaptive headlights and the taillights get an upgrade as well, adding a Union Jack pattern to the reflector visible day and night. Finally, you can get all the chrome trim in piano black if you'd like.

On the inside, Mini has added more seat upholstery options, like malt brown, indigo blue, and satellite gray. A six-speaker audio system with USB slot is standard. The car now gets a SIM card and 4G connectivity. That adds Mini Connected with a range of apps and services, as well as real-time traffic on nav-equipped cars.

The cars carry over two engine choices: a 136 hp, 1.5L three-cylinder, and a 2.0L 189 hp four. Both get an eight-speed auto at launch with standard all-wheel drive. The John Cooper Works performance version is set to get the upgrades at a later date.

They're expected to arrive on sale in the third quarter of this year with pricing to follow.
