Mercedes-Benz announced that the redesigned 2023 GLC SUV will arrive at dealers in June. The GLC 300 4Matic will be the first to arrive, starting from $58,900.
At 4,716 mm long, the new GLC is 60 mm longer than before, which gives the SUV an extra 70L of cargo space. The track has also been widened (by 6 mm in the front and 23 mm in the rear), but since the overall width is unchanged at 1,890 mm, the change is more about altering the GLC's stance. The result is that the SUV looks wider and lower.
The automaker has also added its latest infotainment system to the 2023 GLC. Benz says that both hardware and software "have made a major leap forward" with the latest MBUX generation. This includes better route guidance and available augmented reality, and it also comes with a new 11.9-inch portrait-orientation centre screen and 12.3-inch digital dashboard with a "floating" look.
Mercedes-Benz has boosted the level of standard equipment on the GLC as part of an effort to simplify the lineup. Smartphone integration, wireless phone charging, and heated front seats are among the list of newly standard features.
Along the same lines, instead of a long options list, there are now just three available content packages and two AMG Line cosmetic upgrade bundles. Mercedes will still offer plenty of paint, upholstery, and interior trim choices.
The first of the new GLC SUV lineup will be the GLC 300 4Matic. It has a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine adds a 48V mild hybrid system to help improve the start-stop function and act a bit like an electric turbocharger.
The MSRP for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic is $58,900 in Canada. The $3,875 Premium Package adds navigation, 360 camera, keyless go, and a panoramic sunroof, while the $3,650 Premium Plus Package adds to that with augmented reality, insulated glass, Burmester audio, and a head-up display. The $2,700 Intelligent Drive Package adds route-based speed control, blind spot, lane keeping, and steering assists, as well as the rest of the Benz active safety assistance suite.
